Origins A Perfect World Antioxidant Moisturiser

Origins A Perfect World Antioxidant Moisturiser

The first time I tried Origins (probably more than 10 years ago now, eek!), it turned out to be a pretty expensive mistake.  Having little awareness of my skin type and how to look after it, I let my much younger self be talked into buying a number of things that did absolutely nothing for me, by a sales assistant who probably didn't care.

Since then however, my knowledge and confidence have happily increased, I've gone back to Origins a number of times (had much better experiences with sales assistants too) and whilst I haven't had much opportunity to try many products from the brand, I do have one or two firm favourites, including the 'A Perfect World Antioxidant Moisturiser'.

This moisturiser first became a regular part of my skincare regime a few years back, I used it religiously but for some reason or other I moved onto other products and forgot about this for a little while.  It was only last year that I rediscovered it - I got a free 50ml tube in the Origins trade-in on Earth Day - and boy am I glad I did!

The 'A Perfect World Antioxidant Moisturiser' is part of Origins 'age fighting' range, it's free of nast preservatives and as you might expect, contains a number of antioxidant, firming and brightening ingredients, including white tea, Vitamin C and Murumuru butter.

The cream is definitely on the thicker side and could be a little heavy for some, but on my slightly dehydrated skin a little goes along way and it sinks in beautifully.  It does leave a slight residue but as I use this as a night cream I really don't mind, I actually find that it makes my skin feel that much more comfortable, and still soft and supple when I wake up in the morning.

Possibly one of my favourite things about the moisturiser, and something that divides many reviewers, is the scent.  A lot of people find it overpowering, but the blend of fresh citrus and herbs is somehow calming to me and so perfect to use at the end of a long day.  I'm also really attracted by the soothing green shade of the glass jar the product is packaged in.  I have repurchased this twice since the free tube I received and have no doubt I'll be repurchasing again when I run out.

Origins A Perfect World Antioxidant Moisturiser is £33 for 50ml and is available here.  A version with SPF 25 is also available.

Have you tried many Origins products?  What are your favourites?

Birthday Goodies

So last Sunday I celebrated another birthday! I had a great time and was spoiled by my fiance.  We started the day in my favourite brunch restaurant (Filmore & Union, they do the best eggs!) did a little bit of shopping then headed back home for a little get together with my family.

I got some lovely gifts from people, amongst them some MAC vouchers, and thought I'd share with you what I got...

MAC Eye Shadows in Yogurt, Blackberry, Sketch and Carbon
I got the three purple toned eye shadows here as I wanted to try something a bit different, and recently it's been rare for me to try anything outside of my usual neutral shade comfort zone.  I tried these shadows on at the counter, and loved the look they created.  I decided to add Carbon to the mix as it's great to add depth to almost any colour smoky eye. (Yogurt isn't swatched below as it refused to show up on my arm!)

MAC Mineralize Blush in Love Thing
This blush is so scary in the pan (and in my rather heavy swatch below) but comes out beautifully on the skin. It's a deep burgundy/berry colour with a good dose of gold shimmer, at first it applies as a sheer wash but can be built up if you're brave enough!

MAC Plushglass in Power Supply and MAC Lipstick in Dark Side
Obviously I was feeling 'berryish' the day I spent my MAC vouchers so my new Plushglass and lipstick fit right in.  I've work the Plushglass every day since I bought it, and while it looks great on it's own, it looks even better over MAC Dark Side or over two of my favourite lipsticks MAC Rebel or Illamasqua Magnetism

Vans SK8-Hi Trainers
I was so pleased to receive these from my fiance!  Like my other pairs of Vans shoes there has been no absolutely no breaking-in period with these.  They keep my feet nice and warm when it's cold (unlike my canvas low top Vans), and they fit in perfectly with my wardrobe.  I think I'll be wearing these for a very long time!

Waldo Pancake Washbag
This was a gift from one of my lovely colleagues and despite it being pink (not my favourite colour) it's silly but practical so I love it.  Also, it came in the most awesome retro superhero wrapping paper - definitely my kind of style!

Lush Popcorn Lip Scrub

Last but not least, and from another of my lovely work colleagues, is this yummy lip scrub from Lush.  This is one of those perfect little presents for me; I already have the Mint Julip version (and am rapidly running out as I use it so often) but this one might easily replace it in my affections as it's flavour matches my favourite snack food of all time!

So that's the end of my birthday goodies this year, I can honestly say I love everything I've received, and will get a lot of use out of it all.
